This week's Flashback Friday is a couple of photos of some older dolls I saw at a flea market recently. I know a few are older Madame Alexander dolls, I'm not sure what the rest were. There was also several composition dolls and I might have to go back and buy one just to have one in my collection.
If you see any dolls in the pictures and can identify them let me know.
This blog is to share news, reviews, info, photos, and to reminisce about dolls, accessories, and other toys.

In the Garden with Cutie Pops Magenta
It has been a beautiful day here and I decided that Magenta from the very adorable Cutie Pops line should go explore the garden with me today. She seemed to really enjoy the lilies.

Quick Customized Springfield Doll Shoes
As you know I am a huge fan of the Springfield Style Club website. Awhile back I received a surprise for gaining points on their website, a pair of very cute black and white tennis shoes. On a recent trip to Micheal's I found these adorable stickers and thought they would be great for customizing the tennis shoes. The stickers are the puffy, scrapbook kind, and are made to look like they are made from fabric. I chose stickers over other options because they can easily be removed to change the style of the shoes for more customizing options.
The Springfield shoes do fit American Girl dolls but are a bit big.

Flashback Friday: American Girl Place Doll Costume Trunk
Happy Friday everyone! today's Flashback Friday features the retired American Girl Place Costume Trunk. This was a store exclusive several years ago when the theater in American Girl Place was still open. The set includes a doll size "Circle of Friends" poster, theater stickers to decorate the purple, metal trunk, six doll size tickets to the show, a magenta ruffled boa, a pair of black slip on shoes with multi color detailing on the sides, a magenta sequined shawl, elbow length silver gloves, a silver beaded necklace, a "CD" from "Circle of Friends" and a "CD" from "The American Girls Revue." The half circle case has a black handle and a metal snap closure to keep everything stored nice and securely. It seems to me that some of these items have reappeared in Rebecca's costume trunk. I ever got to see the shows at American Girl Place but I have heard positive things about it from those who did, it seems a shame that the theaters aren't open any more.
Did you ever see a show at the American Girl Place theater?

Flashback Friday: Cabbage Patch Toddler Kid
I know I'm a few days late, but it has been crazy here the last few days. The Flashback
Friday for this week (actually last week) is my adorable Cabbage Patch Toddler Kid. His birth certificate says his name is Garcia and he was found at an estate sale still in his box. His box is copyrighted 1988 and he is the "Kid in the Middle." Cabbage Patch kids were created by Xavier Roberts in the late 70's. The story of the Cabbage Patch started appearing in 1983 and most dolls have a replica of Xavier Roberts signature on their bottom. All the dolls are "born" at Babyland General Hospital and each doll comes with a birth certificate with their first and middle name and adoption papers. The dolls have a soft hugable body and hard plastic head, most of the older ones have yarn hair, while the newer ones have nylon hair. Garcia has red looped yarn hair and green eyes and a dimple in his left cheek. His red jumper has green cars, the words "speed limit 55", "vroom" and "honk" on it. He is wearing red and white hard plastic tennis shoes and white socks. He is in great shape for his age and is a real cutie.

Barbie Cafe
I was researching something today and came across an article about a Barbie themed cafe. Mattel licensed the use of its Barbie logo and a Barbie Cafe, similar to the American Girl Bistros, was recently opened in Taipei. The cafe is decorated in shades of pink with the Barbie silhouette logo. The female servers wear tiaras and pink tutus while the male servers wear pink shirts. They have plans to open a second one in Hong Kong. You can see some of the great pictures here.
What do you think of the cafe? Do you like the Barbie Cafe or the American Girl Bistro better?

Flashback Friday: Rose Petal Place, Rose Petal Doll
As I have said before, I have been collecting dolls since before I understood what collecting really was. So this new weekly post will be dedicated to dolls and doll items that are discontinued. Today we are going to feature Rose Petal Place's Rose Petal doll.
The Rose Petal Place dolls, there are six flower themed dolls plus a few accessories, were released in the mid 1980s by Kenner and are similar to Strawberry Shortcake dolls. Each doll was scented and dressed in an outfit representing their respective flower and are about 5 to 6 inches tall. Rose Petal is the leader and main star of the group. She is dressed in a pink rose petal dress, with a matching hat that is shaped like a rose and the hat has a tear drop shaped "rhinestone" on it. The reason behind the tear drop shaped stone on the hat is in the original story and little girl is sad about leaving her flower garden when she moves. She cries and her tears fall on the flowers and bring them to life. Rose Petal has pink hair and came with a matching drawstring purse. These dolls were only available for about two years but many accessories and memorabilia was made around the show. Rose Petal's house and car were released, along with fashion packs for each doll, the villain Natasha (a spider) was also released. There was also a board game, which I received as a hand me down along with the dolls, from a cousin of mine as a child.
Even though these dolls were not available very long they are still relatively easy to find on Ebay , some are even sealed in the box.
There will be more of Rose Petal and her friends in coming weeks.
